The calendar inspired by the cultural and historical project "The Army of the Venetian State", conceived by the cultural association "Yes Podemo" with the aim of making known a little known page of history and bringing to light the charm of prestigious military uniforms that have composed the army of land and sea of the Venetian Republic from the sixteenth to the eighteenth century. 12 geographically displaced regiments were selected both in present-day Veneto, and in territories that for centuries have remained faithful to the Serenissima: from Bergamo to Udine to Montenegro.
A committee of historical experts carried out the research of the Regiments, the locations and events reproduced on the tables, allowing faithfully reproducing the postures adopted during the battles and military exercises, the symbols, the banners, the spurs, the buckles, the buttons , and the places where the battle scenes took place.
The works were reproduced by hand on large plates with the watercolor technique by Gianfranco Barco, a Venetian artist who for 20 years was part of the Italian Illustrators Association as a successful advertising illustrator in the '80s and' 90s. From this project is born the calendar that reproduces the original paintings and that begins the first of March 2019 that is the "Cào de Ano veneto"
